Meet the Member - Debbie Detten

1. How long have you been embroidering? How did you start your machine embroidery journey?

I started my journey with embroidery about 20+ years ago. I bought a home embroidery machine when my children (2 boys) were very small and started decorating clothing for them. I've embroidered shirts and bags for a couple of sports teams as well as doing custom embroidery for individuals. I consider embroidery to be a side job while I work a regular job as well.

2. What is your favorite type of project to create?

My favorite projects are blankets and towels. I also like making things for babies i.e. bibs, burp cloths, blankets etc. (hence my featured project) and decorating shirts for my family. One of my hobbies is quilting, which I truly love and enjoy. I like incorporating embroidery into some of my quilts as well and Tattered Stitch has just the right designs for me.

3. What was the inspiration behind this project?

This project was made for my first grandchild. They decorated his room with a woodland theme and I remembered these designs. I thought they would make an excellent baby quilt and I was right on the money!

4. Do you have any tips you can share with our readers?

Follow lots of embroidery groups on Facebook and Youtube. There are a lot of very talented digitizers and embroiderers out there who have a wealth of knowledge and you can access it all for free! Most are also willing to help out if you have questions.

5. How did you find TSE and what is one of your favorite designs?

I originally found Tattered Stitch Embroideries through Facebook.I believe I saw the new fonts that are initially available for free the first 24 hours. Tattered Stitch has so many amazing designs! I think the woodland animals are probably my favorite designs.

Thank you Debbie for such a sweet project, we sure hope your grandson is getting a lot of use out of it!

Here are some additional member projects we just adore! Now on sale for a limited time!
